Ilkai Gonduan Celebrates (Reuters)
The 20th round of the English league continued tonight (Tuesday) in which Manchester City rose to first place with another convincing result, when they defeated West Bromwich Albion 0: 5. In addition, Arsenal beat Southampton 1: 3, West Ham beat Crystal Palace 2: 3, while Leeds recorded 1: 2 over Newcastle.
West Bromwich Albion – Manchester City 5: 0
No forces. Pep Guardiola’s side, who recorded their seventh consecutive league victory, went on to celebrate and also climbed to first place in the table with one point more than city rivals United as they both played 19 games, while the host placed penultimate in the table will look for the important points in its struggles elsewhere.
The celebration began with a heavy Ilkai Gonduane in the 6th minute, with the midfielder completing a personal double 24 minutes later. In the middle, Joao Cansello found the net and the result was already 0: 3 to the Citizens after half an hour of football. Even before the break Riyad Mahraz nailed the fourth and Raheem Sterling joined in the celebration with the fifth (58).
Southampton – Arsenal 3: 1
An important victory for the Gunners in their attempts to climb towards the high peaks. Mikel Arteta’s team completed a second consecutive victory and rose at least temporarily to eighth place in the table, while losing 3 places below.
It actually started well for Southampton, with Stuart Armstrong arranging an early lead (4), however Nicolas Pepe equalized immediately (8). Buccayo Saka completed a makeover in favor of Arsenal (39) and Alexander Lacassette closed the story (73).
Crystal Palace – West Ham 3: 2
The Hammers continued to look great and even overtook Liverpool en route to fourth place in the table, but the champions lacked a game. The guest, who completed a fourth win in a row, enjoyed a pair of Czech Tomasz Suczek (9 and 25) who erased an early advantage from the host from a goal by Wilfried Zaha (4). Craig Dawson nailed the third in the second half (66), while Michi Batshui just shrank a moment before the end and deep in the extra (97).

Newcastle – Leeds 2: 1
After two consecutive losses, the newcomer breathed quite a bit of air and ran even further from the red line with 26 points in 12th place. On the other hand, the host continued to get into trouble in its terrible season and recorded its fifth consecutive league loss, when its last victory was on December 12, and it is 5 points above the red line. Rafinha scored a quick goal for Leeds (15), Miguel Almiron equalized (58) but Jack Harrison scored immediately (62) in what was enough for the win.
