It was in the air, and today became official by Chelsea as well. After Frank Lampard was sacked by the Blues, Thomas Tuchel will be the new coach of the London team, with the German signing a contract until 2022 with an option for another season with the Blues and will stand on their lines already in the upcoming game against Wolves on Wednesday.
The German coach reached the Champions League final last season with Paris Saint-Germain, from which he was fired at the beginning of the season. In doing so, he will reunite with whoever was the captain of the French team under him, Thiago Silva, as well as with Christian Polisic whom he coached at Dortmund. Although the top of the Premier League is far away, to his delight, Lampard left him a team that qualified for the last eight of the Champions League and also competes in the English Cup.
This is the Blues’ first ever German coach. Tuchel He said: “Thank you Chelsea for the confidence and faith in me and my team, we have immense respect for Lampard’s work, and yet I can no longer wait to meet the players and coach in this exciting league. I’m grateful to be part of Chelsea’s family. “
