Tal Dan and Ness Ziona players satisfied (Oren Ben Hakon)
Urbani Ness Ziona opened its European campaign on the right foot tonight (Tuesday) as part of the opening round of the European Cup’s 3rd house when, despite dropping a 12-point advantage, it managed to beat Sporting Lisbon 81:86 in a bubble in Wloclawek, Poland. Now, the Oranges will try to leverage the victory in the next game in two days against Hungarian Solnoki Olai in order to qualify for the quarterfinals.
Brad Greenberg’s orange team already led by 12 points at the beginning of the third quarter, but faded and failed to cope properly with the Portuguese, who managed to return to the game and even gained a 5 point advantage at the end of the third quarter, where Ness Ziona absorbed 27 points and scored only 16 from behind. At the start of the fourth quarter Sporting increased to 7, but the Oranges managed to return to a 7-point lead in a 0:10 run towards the end, this time on the way to victory, although the Portuguese still shrank to only 2 towards the end.

Those who stood out above them all were Wayne Selden, who provided 17 points, 3 assists and 3 steals, and Patrick Miller, who added 17 points of his own alongside 3 rebounds. In addition, Tal Dan contributed 15 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds and 3 steals, Jerome Mainsey provided 13 points and 8 rebounds, Lior Carrera scored 12 points along with 4 rebounds and Brian Angola added 10 points, 5 steals, 4 assists and -3 rebounds.
