A little over a year and a half after being appointed coach at the club where he spent most of his years as a player, Frank Lampard was sacked today (Monday) from Chelsea after a disappointing period following which the team dropped to ninth place in the Premier League, despite much investment over the summer.
Lampard, One of the greatest symbols in the club’s history, was naturally disappointed with the dismissals, but he posted a farewell message on social media in which he chose to thank everyone who took part in his time at the club.
His statement read: “It has been a huge privilege for me and a great honor to be the coach of Chelsea, a club that has been a big part of my life for so long. First of all, I want to thank the fans for the incredible support I have received in the last 18 months. I hope they know what this means for me.

“When I took on this role I realized the challenges I face in a difficult time for the club. I am proud of the things we have achieved, I am proud of the academy players who made their first steps in the senior team and displayed such high ability. They are the future of the club. I’m disappointed I did not have the time this season to take the team forward and bring it to the next level.
“I want to thank Mr. Abramovitch, the management, the players, my coaching staff and everyone at the club for their hard work and dedication, especially in these unprecedented and challenging times. I wish the team and the club all the success in the future. “
