The famous speaking king who helped explain broadcast interviews leaves a wealth of words
CNN longtime host Larry King, one of the most prominent faces on television, died on Saturday, January 23, 2021, after a week-long battle with Covid-19. He was 87. The news was announced on his official Twitter account by the company he co-founded, Ora Media.
King, known for his trade hangers and black-and-white glasses, became an icon through his ‘easy-to-brutal’ approach in the form of a Q&A interview with a score of journalists.
In his 25 years with CNN, the titan hosted a multi-award winning talk show of more than 30,000 interviews, from movie stars to athletes to every presidential president from Gerald Ford to Barack Obama. His genuine inquisitiveness to people and the world, and the manner in which he always listened attentively to his guests without interruption, whether famous or everyday, ends for many.

He retired in 2010 after capturing more than 6,000 programs of Larry King Live.
“Larry was one of my closest and best friends and, in my opinion, the greatest broadcast journalist in the world ever,” CNN founder Ted Turner said in a statement. “If someone asked me what my greatest career achievements are in my life, it’s one creation CNN, and the other hires Larry King. Like so many who worked with and knew Larry, he was a consummate professional, an amazing mentor to many and a good friend to all. The world has lost a real myth. “
“He was an amazing father, and he was loyal to the people who were lucky enough to call him a friend. We will miss him every day of our lives,” King’s children wrote in an Instagram post.
