Confrontation at a cabinet meeting: Netanyahu did not want to exclude aliyah – the ministers objected

After the Minister of Immigration and Absorption Pearl Tamano-Sheta She explained that planes had already been leased, and that immigrants should land from Ukraine tomorrow. “Among the immigrants there are old people and it is impossible to abandon them, after they have sold the houses and are currently on luggage on the way to Israel. A specific solution must be given to the immigrants, it is impossible to close doors to families waiting for immigration,” she explained. The prime minister replied: “Wait a week, there will be an exceptions committee for that.”

Deri argued that the organized aliyah that should arrive during the coming week should be taken into account and said that “you are sending to the Exceptions Committee, from this thing, I want us to decide here in government. We have never stopped aliyah since the establishment of the state even in times of war and crisis.” Netanyahu replied that “this time we will stop. They can wait, it is not absolute. If there is a virus – we must stop the aliyah.”

Netanyahu then said that he would take care of the immigrants who arrived, to which Deri replied that it was impossible to hold a meeting with all the disruptions in things. Netanyahu asked Deri who was bothering him and Deri replied: “You have to accept other opinions.” Netanyahu did not remain obligated and said: “I can not hear other opinions?”
