British Health Secretary Matt Hancock has said 77 cases of South African coronavirus differentiation have been detected in the United Kingdom, all linked to travel from South Africa and under close scrutiny.
The UK minister has also said that there was a very low number of cases of the Brazilian variant, nine at the most recent count, and those were also being closely monitored.
“There are 77 known cases of the South African variant here in the UK,” Hancock was summoned by Reuters as said.
“They are under close scrutiny, and we have improved the search for communications to do all we can to stop them spreading,” said the minister, adding that ” the known case of people who had traveled from South Africa or had contact with someone else who did so.
Meanwhile, the British government has extended locking laws to empower councils to close pubs, restaurants, shops and public places until 17 July.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said the government could not consider reducing the lockout with infection rates at their current high levels and until it is confident that the vaccination campaign is working. .
The UK has also banned travelers from some African countries in a bid to halt the spread of that snort in the UK and is measuring further restrictions.
