A protesting youth on the first night of a curfew in the Netherlands built a coronavirus testing facility and threw fireworks at police in a Dutch fishing village.
Police said they fined more than 3,600 people nationwide for breaking the curfew that ran from 9pm on Saturday to 4.30am on Sunday, and arrested 25 people for breaking the curfew or for violence.
Video from the city of Urk, 50 miles northeast of Amsterdam, showed juveniles breaking into the coronavirus testing facility near the harbor before being laid to rest.
Police and the city issued a statement expressing anger at the riot.
“This is not only inappropriate, but also a slap in the face, especially for local health authority staff who will do what they can at the test center to help people from Urk,” local authorities said. .
Police in Amsterdam were also campaigning for another protest on Sunday, sending officers to a square where demonstrators were fighting police a week ago.
