The Director General of the Ministry of Health, Prof. Hezi Levy, adopted the decision of the Priority Committee to vaccinate students aged 16-18 (including 12th grade students, even if they have passed the age of 18).

The Priority Committee held an expert discussion on Thursday, chaired by Dr. Boaz Lev, in which it was recommended that students aged 16-18 be vaccinated.

The professional teams of the Ministries of Health and Education, together with the HMOs, will formulate a logistical plan to promote the vaccination campaign for students, as early as next week. When it comes to a concentrated vaccination in schools or summoning students to the HMOs’ vaccination complexes.

It should be noted that the vaccine, as for the entire population, is not mandatory and what is behind the idea of vaccinating 11th-12th grade students is to allow them to take the matriculation exams.

Keep in mind that Pfizer’s vaccine has been approved by the World Health Organization for ages 16 and up.
