Rory McIlroy will lead a narrow lead over Tyrrell Hatton into the final round of the HSBC Abu Dhabi Championship as Justin Thomas sent off a shock.
McIlroy responded well to his problems on the second day, saving a 72-par save with a birdie at 17 when he finished his second round on Saturday morning, and a third-round 67 lifted him to the top of the board.
Hatton, Tommy Fleetwood and Rafa Cabrera Bello were all in the lead at various stages of an exciting Saturday at Abu Dhabi Golf Club, but Thomas was catching an early flight back to the United States after making two trips out of the hole. last of his second round to miss the halfway cut by one shot.
