2020 has not done too much favors with Israeli football, which will go on two forced breaks due to the Corona, but it turns out our Premier League is in a not bad place at all. The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) has published its league rankings for the past year and our league has received the respectable 13th place.
How respectable? It turns out the Premier League was ranked five places above the Dutch (18). Although it is worth noting that the season has not ended and no champion has been announced. Our league was also ranked above the Colombian (14), Austrian (17), Czech (22) and Belgian (23) and actually jumped 16 places from 2019.
Who is in first place? The Italian league turns out to have jumped four places from 2019 and pushed the Premier League to second place. The Brazilian league closes the trio while below it are Spain (4) and Germany (5).
Apart from that, IFFHS also released the top ten clubs in Europe in 2020, although this is a rather odd ranking. Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain occupy the first and second places respectively while in third place are Inter, AC Milan sixth and are in one place above Juventus and Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona not at all on the list. Who is there? Arsenal (9) and Rangers (10).
