Jennifer King has been promoted to offensive supporter with the Washington Football Team, making her the first Black female full-time coach in NFL history.

King was reportedly moved up the coaching ladder by NFL Network. She spent the 2020 season as a coaching staff in Washington, largely working alongside running coach Randy Jordan.

She also made history earlier this month, with Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive line coach Lori Locust and strength coach and assistant conditioner Maral Javadifar, when they became the first female coaches involved in front-ends in the playoffs.

King previously spent time in 2018 and 2019 working as an employee within the offseason and training camp with the Carolina Panthers, and was a quality control coach with Dartmouth College in the 2019 season.

She was also a wide-ranging receptionist and specials assistant for the now-dead Arizona Hotshots of the American Football Confederation.

Washington also made history in August 2020 when they named former NFL running back Jason Wright as the first president of the league’s Black team.

Washington is ready to hire San Francisco 49ers chief executive Martin Mayhew as their new general manager, according to NFL Network.

The post was thought to go to Marty Hurney, who worked with Washington’s current head coach Ron Rivera in Carolina, but he will now take a senior position in the front office.

Mayhew has been an NFL executive for 20 years and was general manager of the Detroit Lions from 2008 to 2015.

He spent nine years as an NFL backup, including four with Washington, where he won the XXVI Super Bowl in 1992.
