Team17 get full branded golf for friends for £ 12 Million

Golf with your friends it was a blow with players last year. While we didn’t have the strongest opinions about him – giving him a 6/10 star – we thought he was making for a mini-golf multiplayer game, even though he suffered from fiddle control. Clearly, it has been a success for Team17 publishers, who have now bought the rights and assets of the game from developer Blacklight Interactive for £ 12 million.

Buying Golf With Your Friends is split into two categories, including an initial payment of £ 9 million, followed by a further £ 3 million after 12 months. Speaking directly about this, Team17 unveiled plans to “create more opportunities to extend the life cycle of the existing game”. That includes more DLC, with a series that could be watched as well.

Through this news, Team17 shared their financial results for 2020, advising that these are “ahead of expectations” and seeing a 34% increase.

Team Leader Debbie Bestwick had this on the news:

We are very excited to start 2021 with the news that we have acquired GWYF and are seeing great potential in this IP. Over the past two years, GWYF has shown strong consumer demand and mass market demand, doubling the base of its owners and thriving on multiple gaming platforms.

GWYF is the type of IP that we believe is right for ownership, it is successful and proven but still at the beginning of its journey. The team at Blacklight Interactive can rest assured that we will pay close attention to this amazing IP.

There is just what 2021 will bring Team17, but we are thrilled to see what they have planned.
