Announced a successful experiment in growing chicken cells through the Peace of Meat company that will soon become its subsidiary. This is a necessary step on the road to industrial production. Against the background of the report, the company’s share rose by about 7.5%.
According to the report, Peace of Meat has succeeded in growing chicken cells in suspension, using a unique method and technology, using an advanced biological growth tank known as a bioreactor. As mentioned, successful production using a bioreactor is a necessary condition on the way to developing production technology in industrial volumes of cultured products. The company claims that the results significantly advance them towards the goal of developing the industrial growth capacity of cultured chicken fat.
To produce cultured chicken fat at Peace of Meat they have developed several methods related to cell type, their properties, growth materials and more. The company is trying to develop technology that will allow a single sample of stem cells to produce large amounts of cultured fat – both as a product on its own, and for use as a raw material in products that combine it with vegetable fat, a combination that mimics the taste, smell and texture of meat.
At the same time, Mit-Tech emphasizes that the product is not final and “it is expected that significant resources (including time and money) will be required to complete it, if at all.” They further add that “since this is a modern technology in a new field, it has not yet been determined what regulatory approvals will be required.”
Meat-Tech is developing food products in three-dimensional digital printing, and in early December announced the acquisition of 100% of the Belgian Peace Of Meat for 15 million euros in cash and shares.
