When you look at the night sky you can see plenty of stars, but can you choose planets when you see them? Sometimes it is possible to see things like Jupiter and Mars without a telescope, but usually people with “average” eyes can’t tell much difference. Tonight, though, you might catch a glimpse of Uranus, and you only have a pair of binoculars.
Uranus large, blue, and stinky. It is also one of the most interesting planets in our system, and it is not often that we have spacecraft in space until we see it. This time, Uranus will appear near Mars in space, making it a little easier to see, especially if your hardware wants to move in a little closer.

Tonight, Uranus will appear between our own Moon and Mars in the sky. It will be tiny and very weak, but it will be there, glowing pale blue and just waiting for someone to come and look for life.
“The planet outside of Uranus is too weak for most of us to see with the unsupported eye, and it can be difficult to find in space without a computer-controlled telescope,” NASA says explaining in their weekly astronomical counseling role. “But Uranus can now be found between the Moon and Mars. ”
Uranus is strange and special for a number of reasons. It’s very cold, which isn’t very unusual, but the planet is going to rotate around a 90-degree angle compared to the rest of the planets in our system. The theory is that something huge entered Uranus a long time ago, causing it to move and eventually turning at an angle that does not correspond to its own orbit around the sun.
In addition, mountains on the planet have been of interest to scientists for some time, mainly because they are thought to be covered with ice that can submerge hidden water. If so, these branches could harbor life in some form, but we wouldn’t know for sure until we went in and explored it.
Anyway, Uranus will be in the sky tonight, and if you have a pair of binoculars or a telescope, you’ll have a good view of it. Assuming the weather cooperates, of course.
