World Darts champion Gerwyn Price appeared as a guest on Soccer AM where he discussed his impact at Alexandra Palace and his journey to the top of the sport.
Welshman completed a stunning seven-year rise in the sport when he defeated Gary Anderson on January 3 to win his world title.
Price’s impressive 7-3 victory ended Michael van Gerwen’s seven-year reign as World No. 1.
He was also the first ever Welshman to win a PDC competition.

“I was celebrating with donuts and kebabs,” Price told Soccer AM, who recalled the moment he decided to commit to darts.
“I think 2015 – a year after I got my tour card, I reached the quarter-finals of the Matchplay. I’ve played Aidy (Adrian) Lewis the round before and I’ve never on TV in a longer format, the first one to 10 feet and I overcame it.I was like ‘I can do this.’ I needed to make a choice.
“Ruby may have gone for me. He wasn’t a big earner but for me, darts was the biggest employer. I had to support the family so I had to make a decision. . “
He continued: “I was doing really well in majors and I was thinking ‘if I take this 100 per cent out I could get to the top 32, top 16’. I’m not 1. “

‘The Iceman’ says it doesn’t matter to be named as the pantomime villain for his cheerful celebration, which came from the 2018 Grand Slam of Darts final against Gary Anderson, but it now feels like he has earned “some respect”.
“I’ve shown that I’m not up there to pretend I am. I’ve always been the same from the beginning.”

Price also shared his daily routine and training schedule, saying: “From January to May it ‘s very busy when the Premier League is on so you don’t really have time to work. Your playing time is very real. “
Price, a young footballer in his youth, also had the opportunity to showcase his skills in Pro AM Soccer AM.
