Indiana Pacers defender Caris LeVert will be out indefinitely after an MRI revealed a small lesion on his left kidney at physical time before ending the four-team trade with Brooklyn, Houston and Cleveland, the Pacers announced Saturday.
The previous trial in Michigan will go through additional medical tests and more details will follow, the team said.
LeVert landed in Indiana as part of the massive trade that James Harden sent to the Brooklyn Nets.
“On behalf of my family and myself, we would like to thank the Indiana Pacers for their support and guidance,” LeVert said in a statement. “We are grateful for how deep they went through the corporate process and I look forward to being part of the team and being part of this great organization as soon as possible.”
LeVert averaged 18.5 points, 6.0 assists and 4.3 rebounds through 12 games with Brooklyn. He last played Tuesday in the Nets winning over Denver, scoring 20 points, with six assists and five rebounds.
“We got Caris because of who he was as a young man first,” Pacers president Kevin Pritchard said. “His basketball skill and playing court speaks for himself and we know he has a great career ahead of him. We will support it. Caris during this time and knows that he will join us on the court as soon as possible. “
