13 in Israel experience facial paralysis after receiving Covid-19 vaccine: Report, World News

About 13 people in Israel have experienced facial paralysis as a side effect after taking the coronavirus vaccine, the Ministry of Health said and estimates suggest the true number could be higher.

Experts have raised questions about whether a second dose should be given, but the Ministry of Health wants the second dose should be given.

“For at least 28 hours I walked around with it (facial paralysis),” one opponent told Ynet.

“I can’t say it went completely after that, but other than that I had no other pains, except a slight pain where the injection was but nothing beyond that.”

He said he was unsure about taking the second dose, but said it was “rare” and he did not want people to avoid the vaccine.

“It’s important,” he said.

Professor Galia Rahav, director of the Infectious Diseases Unit at Sheba Medical Center, said he came across a person suffering from facial paralysis after being given the vaccine and so previously without giving the person a second dose.

“It is true that it can be given according to the Ministry of Health, but I did not feel comfortable with it,” Rahav said.

Ynet said the health ministry has said the second dose should definitely be given once a paralyzed condition heals.
