Ming-Chi Kuo at TFI, one of Apple’s top analysts, said in a note on Friday that Apple will launch two new MacBook Pro models this year with 14-inch and 16-inch screens, a new design and cost ports Return MagSafe. .

MagSafe charges used to feature in the MacBook design before Apple moved to USB-C charging a few years ago. People like it because the cord comes in and pulls out easily, preventing the risk of damage to the laptop if someone pulls the cord. Apple recently revived the MagSafe branding with the latest iPhone 12 models, which come with a magnetic pouch that attaches to the back of the phones.

“The MacBook Pro hasn’t changed the design of the shape factor for five years,” Kuo said. “We believe that two all-new MacBook Pro design models in 3Q21 will attract consumer attention and increase the new demand.”

Apple Mac revenue rose 28% year-over-year in October, when the company announced its fiscal earnings in the fourth quarter of 2020. Demand has risen sharply as people work from home due to the continued release of Covid-19. Apple also released the first PCs with their new M1 chip in late 2020. However, the PCs look the same as earlier models and the MacBook Pro is too late for a design change.

Kuo said Apple plans to get rid of the curved edges and adopt sharper lines, making the edges look a bit more like the square edges of the iPhone 12, iPad Air and iPad Pro. Kuo said Apple will remove the Touch Bar, which allows people to tap on screenshots on a touch screen at the top of their keyboard.

“Taking advantage of the new demand for new models, we predict that the total MacBook shipments will grow significantly by 25-30% YoY to 20 mn units in 2021,” Kuo said in the note. .
