© NintendoVisit Mario Kart and Home Disability may be the focus of Nintendo these days (We still love you too, Deluxe), but there is still a dedicated player base for Mario Kart Wii. Despite being almost 13 years old, he was still pulling in respectable sales numbers as far back as 2019 and we’ve seen some amazing mods as well. Now, however, one player has taken away an incredible act by performing a short cut on Rainbow Road.
The move was taken off by a Twitch climber ArthurMKW, giving it a lap time of 22.526 seconds. It’s done what many players have tried for years, just managing it with machine-assisted running. We should note that this is not the only ultra shortlist on this map, as another one by Lakitu has been done before.
For the ignorant, ultra-short shots are not the same as using mushrooms all over the grass. They are very exploitative and can allow you to avoid large sections of line. They are not as common as they once were. You could drag these around Mario Kart 64 through tricks or the use of clever items and so was Mario Kart Wii.
Several others were discovered back in 2019 and after 13 years, you’d think that was for Mario Kart Wii. That way, it’s still good to see that the game continues to carry an active community.
