- An armed supporter brought ‘nuclear football’ for Trump’s visit
- The ‘satchel crisis’ travels with Trump wherever he goes
- Pelosi summoned the chairman of the Joint Commanders for pledges
- Wanting to know how to keep an ‘unhinged’ person away from codes
President Donald Trump took his first out-of-town tour of the Capitol riots on Tuesday – and took with him nuclear ‘football’ spokesman Nancy Pelosi saying he can’t control to keep it.
An armed supporter takes the football when Trump travels. It carries the codes to activate the country’s massive nuclear weapons arsenal, and enables the president to order a strike even while away from the White House communications network.
In the wake of last week’s riots, Pelosi told colleagues that she chaired Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley about how to keep an ‘unhinged’ president from being access to the nuclear codes.
An armed supporter was seen carrying the large ‘satchel emergency’ containing the codes aboard Marine One while the president prepared to leave the White House.

She raised the issue as she wrote to colleagues to discuss going ahead after the Capitol riots. Her caucus decided to go ahead with a historic second impeachment, with a vote set Wednesday.
She commented to colleagues: ‘Preventing President from stopping using nuclear codes.’
In the morning, I spoke with Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley to discuss the measures available to prevent an unstable president from starting armed enemies or accessing the launch codes and order a nuclear strike, she told them.
In particular, she did not reveal what response Milley gave, or whether any security guards had been set up.
‘This unstoppable President’s position could not be more dangerous, and we must do all we can to protect the American people from his unjust attack on our country and our democracy. , ‘she wrote.
Trump will hold back the powers of his office as commander-in-chief – although a series of White House cabinet leaders and officials have received some of the advice and staff support he receives.

On his trip to Alamo, Texas, local officials said they received no word dealing with the trip – a sign that normal staff work had fallen sideways.
According to the New York Times, Milley criticizes Col. Dave Butler upheld the call but did not suggest a new arrangement. “He answered his questions regarding the nuclear control authority process,” he said.
Nonetheless, after making a call, officers may be alerted to confirm that any orders they receive are legal.
Pelosi and congressional Democrats are also urging Vice President Mike Pence to attack the 25th Amendment to declare Trump inappropriate, but that did not happen.
