Napoli ‘Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney on long-term transfer target list’

It is reported that Napoli are looking into a move for Kieran Tierney with Arsenal left back on the list of long-term transfer targets for the Italian side.

Tierney has been one of the Gunners’ most consistent actresses this season and scored a stunning one-on-one goal in the 4-0 win over West Brom earlier this month.

Arsenal beat Napoli to Scotland’s international signature in 2019 but the Telegraph reports that the Serie A club have not given up hope of signing him in a transfer window in the future.

The left-back has been a standout player for the Gunners and scored a stunning solo goal against West Brom earlier this month.

According to the report, Napoli will look for a short-term solution at left-back before making another attempt to sign Tierney.

The Gunners signed the 23-year-old for a fee of £ 25million in August 2019. His season was hampered by a shoulder injury but he returned to fitness during the Restart Project and has been consistent ever since.

Tierney has started 16 Premier League in the 2020-2021 campaign, most of any outdoor player and has been a key figure in the club’s recent form.

Arsenal legend Martin Keown even suggested he could go on to become their future captain.

‘Right from the start I saw there was a decision about it,’ Keown told BT Sport after Arsenal ‘s victory at the Hawthorns.

‘It’s just the right kind of thing you need … his personality, his character. It’s a driving force and it’s a throwback.

‘In training, they have to tell him to be calm because he’s dealing fiercely. I really like the idea that he brings.
