One can watch a lot of television in the long days between Christmas and New Year, and for many, the holiday was all about binging Bridgerton, Shonda Rhimes’ new Regency drama series, which ended on December 25th. The show captured an audience desperately in need of a bit of a fun-filled escapism, myself included. Based on the Julia Quinn novel of the same name, the show revolves around a high fictional society (known as “the Ton”) during the London Regency, such as the enjoyment of supernatural balls, sip tea in empire-waist gowns, and read a trick written by an anonymous column writer named by the local paper as Lady Whistledown. Unrequited love, saucy sex scenes, and a scarcity of unconventional costumes are complemented by jewels worthy of royalty. Of course, it wouldn’t be a time-consuming drama without heaps of whimsical costumes. Bridgertonwomen don their elegant, embroidered gowns, corsetry, tiaras, and evening gloves to an awesome social calendar of soirees, balls, and formal walks on the promenade, surpassing their elegant looks with collared diamond necklaces , cocktail rings, cocktail rings over silk gloves, and of course, many, many strands of pearls. The enthusiasm for decorating outdoor clothing is a source of hope and it is certainly a joy to watch on screen, especially at a time when we are most of our customers. -formal dress and formal attire. So why not join in some longer with some whimsical gems inspired by the debutantes, court, and royalty of the Ton?
