Of the 81,858 corona virus tests performed yesterday (Saturday), 5,030 were found to be positive, so the rate of positive results stands at 6.3%.

There are currently 69,160 active corona patients in Israel, 1,710 of whom are hospitalized. 293 patients are in critical condition, 993 in critical condition and 275 in moderate condition. 231 of the patients were resuscitated.

Since midnight, 9,625 tests have been performed, 583 of which have been positive – and the rate of positive results as of 05:55 is 6.1%. Since the outbreak of the plague, 3,645 people have died in Israel from the virus. 5,680 healthcare professionals are currently in isolation or have been vaccinated against the virus, 671 of them are doctors and 1,466 are brothers and sisters.

In a tweet posted this morning on his Twitter account, Health Minister Yuli Edelstein wrote that the first three weeks of Operation “Give a Shoulder” were a success. “Yesterday we started distributing the second dose. So far we have vaccinated 1,817,000 people in the first dose. Today more significant shipments of vaccines will start arriving.” At the end of his remarks, the minister called on his followers to get vaccinated and adhere to the closure guidelines.

Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital announced today that the corona wards have the highest number of patients in the country with 136 patients, 72 of them in critical and critical condition – 22 of them respirators. The hospital said that at the height of the epidemic, 150 corona patients were treated at the hospital at the same time.

Against the background of the outbreak of the plague and due to the immunization operation against the corona, about 100,000 vaccine doses from the Pfizer company are expected to land in Israel today, with another half a million of the vaccine expected to arrive nationwide by the end of the week. Yesterday, 43,016 vaccines against the virus were given, and on Friday, about 62.5 thousand vaccines were given.

This week, the vaccination campaign for teaching staff, which has been dubbed “Shoulder for Education,” is set to begin. The Ministry of Health sees next week, when the number of vaccinated people in the second dose will be relatively low, as a “window of opportunity” to complete the teachers’ vaccination.

In an interview with Effie Trigger’s program in Glatz, the Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Health, Prof. Itamar Grotto, said this morning that “it seems that the South African mutation will not have a significant effect on the protection provided by the vaccine.”
