The Los Angeles Rams outscored the Seattle Seahawks 30-20 in a defensive battle, overcoming the loss of quarterback John Wolford to the early and defensive star Aaron Donald’s decision to a late rib injury.

Cam Akers rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown and Darious Williams returned an interception for a score as the Rams seeded 6 to advance to the playoffs regional round.

Matt Gay scored three field goals for the Rams, but it was on the strength of the defense that they won, allowing just 278 yards of total offense from the Seahawks with a No. 3 seed, who had their 10 postseason games win at home – a run stretching back to 2004.

Wolford started at quarterback for the Rams and led them into a field of field goals on their second possession before suffering a neck injury while Seattle ‘s Jamal Adams dealt with them. Wolford did not return and was taken back to the hospital.

Jared Goff, who suffered a broken toe at Seattle two weeks ago that required surgery, came off the bench to lead the Rams to victory, though his stat line in 9 of 19 was not too impressive for 155 yards, with the QB he is still injured by the injury.

A few plays later, Wilson went out on his left and threw a round ball 51 yards deep to Metcalf. But the Rams responded straight back as both offenses exploded to life.

After the break, the defense was back on top, with both teams exchanging field goals until Goff’s pass to Woods saw the Rams into a direction that was ultimately unavailable.
