Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today (Thursday) granted Defense Minister Bnei Gantz’s request to give priority to teaching staff in administering vaccines. However, a senior official in the Ministry of Health told Ynet: “I do not know the meaning of the conclusion that the vaccines for the first wave are over.”

The Ministry of Health’s office said that Netanyahu, Gantz and Minister Yuli Edelstein had agreed to apply together to the priority committee of the Corona vaccines, to examine the possibility of vaccinating the teaching staff. “This request joins Minister Edelstein’s request this morning to prioritize special education teaching staffs,” it said.
The announcement today was preceded by talks conducted by the chairman of the Education Committee, MK Ram Shefa, with the Ministry of Health, in which he said that he would withdraw his request to transfer the closure regulations procedure to the Education Committee if a commitment is made to vaccinate the educational staff. Shortly afterwards, the Likud and Blue and White reached an agreement on the issue.
Last week, after the decision was made in the Ministry of Health that there are not enough vaccines to vaccinate the teaching staff, Ben-David declared a labor dispute. “Instead of the Ministry of Education and the State taking care of vaccinating us, they are working to open up the education system,” she said last Monday. “Leave the kindergarteners and teachers committed to coming to kindergartens and schools that have become corona incubators every day and endanger them.”

The next day, Edelstein attacked Ichilov’s director, Prof. Gamzo, and Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai. “Why did this happen? Because here and there there were those who tried to close with the head of the authority,” Edelstein said of the two. “It’s not pleasant, we need to maintain a good relationship, and it’s also good for the head of the authority to post on Facebook, ‘I had the teachers vaccinated with me.’ He added: “The phenomenon in Tel Aviv is an unfortunate phenomenon, there are no surpluses of 2,000 vaccines.
Education Minister Yoav Galant said yesterday in an interview with the Ynet studio that the days of closure should be used to vaccinate teaching staff. There are surplus rations at a time, “he said.” The Ministry of Health has a list of all 200,000 workers – who will take the list and give it to them. We have a vital need to take advantage of the closure period in order to vaccinate the entire education system, without it we would have done nothing. There are enough vaccines, we had to start it two weeks ago. ”

Earlier today, a shipment of more than 100,000 vaccines from the “Modern” company arrived at Ben Gurion Airport. The shipment arrived on a flight from Frankfurt, Germany in a Jumbo 747 aircraft of the KAL airline. And crews from the cargo company Maman unloaded the shipment and led it for storage.
The first vaccine doses of the modern company are intended for homeopaths, including nursing patients, who have not been vaccinated so far. This is because the storage and transport of modern vaccines is simpler than those of the Pfizer company. The vaccines will be given by HMO teams (or outsourced). The Ministry of Health estimates that the vaccines for housewives will be given as early as next week.
