An incident that took place last week in the Philippines – grabbed headlines around the world, and not in vain: a few days old baby was found abandoned in a bush wrapped in a towel and still attached to his umbilical cord, and whoever found him that way was a 36-year-old motorcyclist named General Puente Revila – No less and no more, by a dog that has passed by.
In an interview with him, Puentes said that the dog ‘attached’ to him in an unusual way, and did not stop barking and trying to signal him to come after him. “At first I kept driving in my direction, but when I saw that he kept running after me and barking, I decided to stop and drive after him. He was the one who led me to the baby in the bush,” he said.
The surprised Ravila did not believe that the baby was still alive, in the conditions in which he was abandoned.
“I picked him up and drove him to the hospital right away,” Revila recalled.
Efforts to locate the baby’s parents are still ongoing at the local police, and the public is called upon to assist with every bit of information it knows about the case. It is remarkable to note that a private organization tracked down the dog’s identity, and published that it was not a stray dog but a puppy belonging to a private person named Koya Lyndon Olay.
