Two weeks ago Rudy Gober, a Utah Jazz player, became the center with the biggest contract in NBA history. The Frenchman has extended his contract at Jazz by five years in which he will earn no less than $ 208 million.
Turns out there are people who have a hard time accepting that, one of them is Shaquille O’Neal, a slightly better-than-rising center, probably offensively, who has won four championships throughout his career, has been selected three times as a playoff MVP and has a host of other personal titles.

Speaking on the ATcoverdPod podcast, Shaquille commented: “If I’m a boogie (Cousins) I’m looking at the bullshit contract the guy from Utah (Gover) got now. dollar'”.
The podcaster tried to convince Shaq that the reason for Gober’s high contract was because he was considered perhaps the best defensive player in the league, but the former center was not convinced: “Stop, stop. I’m happy for him and his family about the contract, but he accepted it because there are new rules “In the NBA and the teams have to spend money. The contract is a message to children who think they will not make it to the league.”
Shaquille’s reference to Gover’s contract
In terms of numbers O’Neill was not wrong, Gover does indeed score an average of 11.7 points in his career in seven seasons, but also drops 11 rebounds and blocks 2.2 times. He has also been selected twice in a row for the league’s defensive player (2018 and 2019), and four times in a row for the defensive top five (2020-2017).
O’Neill may be frustrated that so far Gover has earned nearly $ 76 million in his career, well ahead of the $ 208 million he will receive in the next five years. Shaquille may have earned $ 292 million, but did so over a 19-year career.
