One day after losing their second game of the season, the Sydney Sixers returned to their winning streaks by defeating the Adelaide Strikers with seven wickets and moving to first place on the BBL 2020 points table. -21.

A quick effort from the Sixers bowlers established the game by making sure the Strikers did not score more than 150 – despite having six wikis in their hands – after which Josh Philippe, James Vince and Jordan added Silk in with helpful donations to win her seal with two looks to release.

Rashid Khan returned figures of 3 for 18 for the Strikers, but without another bowler taking a wicket in the chase, the Sixers struggled to victory with very few roadblocks on the way to a 151 target.

Six draw the first blood but Carey, Wells rebuilds

After asking for bats, the Strikers released a new opening pair with Matt Renshaw joining Phil Salt at the top, but the two men were sent off within nine balls by Ben Dwarshuis and Benjamin Manenti.

Salt was the first to go, out trying to pull Dwarshuis’ short ball, just to send it midway to midwicket while Renshaw was removed by the spy. Manenti tries to put back a bullet that appeared for goalkeeper Philippe to produce a simple catch.

That brought Alex Carey and Jono Wells to the middle before the second one was even finished, forcing the Strikers to begin a rebuilding process that saw them make just 20 runs inside the four- Powerplay. over. Legspinner Lloyd Pope looked threatening with the ball turning a good chunk, but Carey and Wells saw it carefully. It was a stand that went on slowly, with the two bats at strike rates of less than 100 for the main part of the partnership. Dan Christian finally broke the 64-ball partnership of 64 in the 13th over when he slammed Carey with a slower ball, who was beaten straight to top Carlos Brathwaite at midfield.
