Luke Campbell is up against Ryan Garcia in America
Luke Campbell shared an intense face-off with Ryan Garcia as the lightweight contestants got in for the WBC interim title fight this weekend.
Britain’s two-time world title opponent bounced off the 135lb finish, with Garcia California matching the same weight ahead of Saturday in Dallas.
Campbell has appeared with credit from loss points to Jorge Linares and Vasiliy Lomachenko in his previous two world title fights, and a win over Garcia earns a compelling fight with WBC champion Devin Haney.
The Hull man, who returns to the final ring after losing Lomachenko in August last year, said DAZN: “This is the opportunity I’ve been looking for, for a long time now, so I’m excited to be here.
“I believe I got harder prepared. I was spouting opponents at a global level and I’m performing a lot better than I did in that fight.”
Garcia is regarded as America’s new boxing star, but insists he is wary of the threat Campbell threatens.
“You see how I look,” he said DAZN. “That just shows you that I’m 100 percent prepared. I don’t take anyone lightly. You see I submitted the work and I’m ready to show where it comes from. I do. “
