The Red Devils right-back is not afraid to throw himself into defiance, and has more blocks than anyone else, but he has yet to retain in 2020-21
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been stunned by the notable feats he posts at Manchester United, with the backhand still without picking up a yellow card this season and trying the move when it comes to dealing hard with defenders.
The 23-year-old full-back is not afraid to throw himself into a challenge and has made more (50) blocks in the 2020-21 campaign than any other Premier League player.
Wan-Bissaka often finds himself pitted against some of the best creative talent England’s top flight has to offer, with hard-nosed climbers taking up residence in his range of the field.
Keeping that risk and staying on the good side of referees is not easy, but Old Trafford ‘s £ 50 million ($ 63m) fund shows that success can be achieved as long as the rules are adhered to.
Talking to Unified Review about his spotless control record, Wan-Bissaka said: “That was the first time I heard it. But it’s very good to hear, that I haven’t gotten anywhere against me this season.
“I know you can’t just dive into any device. You need to make sure your time is right. It’s always a matter of climbing and making sure you put them right too. ”
He said he was a major Premier League blocker, with Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters second on that list around seven attempts: “I think it’s probably the result of situations where I had to deal with but, in that time, I have had more situations where I had to avoid views and crosses.
“I know there have been times in football where he can’t get in unless you stop a bullet. So the best thing to do is just try to block every bullet and every cross. ”
Wan-Bissaka’s ability to defuse the threat that opponents are eliminating will be reaffirmed on Friday when United sign a home date with Aston Villa – with Jack Grealish cementing his reputation as one of the best players in the industry.
“I know it’s always up there getting the most dirt. We all know he’s a tough player when he’s out on the pitch, ”said Wan-Bissaka.
“He’s a good player. It’s unbelievable and can go in or out with the ball. I played against him last season and I have to be ready to take him as he comes.
“It is another challenge I am ready to take on. But he’s not the only player we need to pay attention to – they have a lot of other good players like John McGinn, Ross Barkley, Trezeguet and others. We know it will be a tough game. ”
