Controversy in the government over the appointment of a permanent commissioner: an exchange of accusations between the Likud and blue and white

The Minister of Internal Security, Amir Ohana, raised a telephone cabinet meeting today (Friday), which is currently approving the appointments of his candidates for the position of acting commissioner and acting IPS commissioner, Yaakov Shabtai and Kati Perry. The appointments will be raised in accordance with the recommendation of the senior appointments advisory committee that approved the appointments of the two this week.

“Unfortunately, this is a parity government in which a blue-and-white bloc needs to approve issues on the government’s agenda, and such approval is not given by them,” Ohana said. “Therefore, I have to present you with an alternative proposal by consent, appointing the two as deputy heads of organizations, in the belief and hope that in the near future blue and white consent will be given to complete permanent appointments to the two security bodies, which have been begging for more than two years.”

Sources in blue and white accuse Netanyahu of “stabbing the country and not ready to convene a cabinet meeting to approve 60 appointments that include 30 ambassadors and other various positions.”
