Michael van Gerwen may have preferred to land his fourth World Darts Championship title, but the likes of Gary Anderson and Gerwyn Price are hot on his heels ahead of New Year’s Day at Alexandra Palace.

This year’s Worlds has been pretty much everything, from James Wade’s sensual nine-darter to Joe Cullen’s huge MVG impact.

The ranking has hit the top of Ally Pally and he promises to be even better ahead of four high-quality quarter-final matches played over two sessions on Friday.
