In a discussion held yesterday in the Knesset’s Constitution Committee, the head of public health services at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Sharon Elrai Price, spoke about the “eruption of a corona on a plane from Dubai.” She stung those who opposed turning the UAE red: “Until recently it was a green country. ‘We are doing wonderfully there,’ we were told. “A plane with 14 verified patients is coming back to us now, right now, it is under investigation.”
It later became clear that this was a plane that landed in Israel two days before the senior official in the Ministry of Health said. “An epidemiological investigation has begun following the discovery of verified people on a flight from Dubai,” the ministry said. “This is a flight that landed on Monday and since the landing 14 cases have been detected of verified people traveling together on an organized trip. The passengers went into isolation like all the returnees from abroad in the last week.”
At the end of the discussion, the committee approved the abolition of the sweeping obligation to isolate in hotels. Returns from abroad will be able to maintain home insulation subject to a corona inspection at Ben Gurion Airport and a commitment to a further inspection on the ninth day of insulation. At the same time, the committee decided that even those currently staying in hotels will be released to their homes subject to an inspection.
