The Municipality of Rehovot is implementing one of the biggest changes that is currently taking place in the world: laying infrastructure to move vehicles with clean and efficient electric motors. This morning, the first charging station for electric vehicles was set up, near the Hall of Culture.
The number of electric vehicles in Israel is expected to reach hundreds of thousands in 2025, and close to one million electric vehicles in 2030. According to the forecast, a rate of about 15% of all charging stations will be public charging stations and in less than five years tens of thousands of charging stations in Israel are expected Of these, thousands of public charging stations are being prepared, and HLR is preparing to provide a comprehensive response to this.
During the first quarter of 2021, additional positions are expected to be established in the following locations (subject to IEC approval):
TMR Park (Science): In Antin and Pakris Streets, Horowitz HPR Park, Founders ‘Garden and Remez Street, Kibbutz Brothers’ Corner.
As mentioned, as part of the business development activity at HLR in collaboration with the Traffic Division, the municipality approached a call published by the Ministry of Energy for a grant for the establishment of the stations and won about 100,000 NIS for the promotion of the project.
The Rehovot Municipality was among the first municipalities to issue a tender for the winner to check the positions following the receipt of the grant.
In recent weeks, Heller and the Traffic, Signage, Supervision and Enforcement Division have been working to sign the positions and their location throughout the city, while completing the local regulation that allowed them to be established.
In addition to the above positions, additional charging stations will be set up on the streets to be set up by companies and businesses that have won a tender from the Ministry of Energy (in the Bilu area, a semi-free road complex, gas stations, etc.).
Standard charging stations (AC) with a power of about 22 kilowatts, with the time required for a full charge may range from two to four hours.
And fast charging stations (DC) that can charge about 100 km of travel between 7 and 20 minutes
