A cop in New York City shot at a machete-wielding teenager who police say lost a woman and her pet pit bull on a Brooklyn street before rushing officers to respond overnight.
NYPD Chief of Investigators Juanita Holmes said officers responded to multiple 911 calls in the Bronokville area of Brooklyn about a man, later identified as 18-year-old Samuel Lazaro, who was working erroneously, lying on the ground, damaging parked vehicles, individuals entering the front yard of one caller and running people in the area with the machete. ‘
A 50-year-old woman who was walking her dog near where she meets between Strauss Street and Dumont Avenue was attacked at 6.15pm by Lazaro, Holmes said, suffering deep cuts in her head and both hands. . Her dog was cut in the shoulder.

The woman was ripped to Kings County Hospital, while her pit bull was taken to a local vet clinic. Both the woman and the dog were in stable condition, Holmes said.
Upon reaching the eastern Brooklyn scene, officers were immediately ‘charged’ by Lazaro, who disobeyed orders to lower the blade, Holmes said.
One officer fired one shot which struck the 18-year-old suspect in the chest. Lazaro was pronounced dead at the hospital.
‘I’ve seen people come out on climbers, the woman with her dog. The dog was barking. This is crazy, ‘neighbor Keisha Tull told CBS New York.
Police say Lazaro refused several orders to lay down his weapon and charged officers, one of whom opened fire, fatally burning the teenager in the chest.

Tull also told the New York Daily News that they were shot in front of a young boy, who was later seen crying in a nearby park.
The fatal incident was the second shooting involving an officer in Brooklyn in as many days, after an officer responded to reports of a gunman who was killed and Curtis McGarrell, The 35-year-old was injured in the leg on Lenox Road in central Brooklyn on Monday.
