Check out this nice snapshot of Nintendo console sales

Nintendo has had a lot of ups and downs as a company, from its inception in the 20th century in the console market to its release in 2017, the Nintendo Switch (which some of you may have heard about). It doesn’t seem like long ago we were writing sad news pieces on the Wii U, or remembering over the 3DS now that Nintendo has stopped manufacturing the little guys.

Now, let’s see the last 31 years of Nintendo token sales in one big picture, thanks to Visual Capitalist (click here for the full resolution image). It may not include a sale of the eye-catching Virtual Boy, but it covers a good number of Nintendo’s plastic delights, from Game Boy to the present day.

2009 was a very good year for Ninty, with both the DS and the Wii selling sales, and it looks like the Switch could, one day, reach the heights. With 154 million sales of the DS in its ten-year life, and 101 million sales of the Wii, the Switch has a long way to go, but nearly four years since its sale it has already sold over 68 million units , with 45 in view. million more in 2020 alone (thanks, Across animals!).

Which year did you prefer, as far as Nintendo consoles go? We’re part of a bit of GameCube, ourselves. Think of your favorite old things in the comments below!
