More than 190,000 top fans have been recalled after flying blades, hitting people | US News

More than 190,000 fans of roofs sold at Home Depot are being recovered following reports that the squirrels fell while spinning, hitting people and causing damage to buildings.

Hampton Bay Mara indoor and outdoor ceiling fans were sold this year between April and October at Home Depot stores and its website. Approximately 182,000 were sold in the U.S. and 8,800 were sold in Canada. They cost about $ 150.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said it had received 47 reports of the rafters falling off, two reports of people being hit by them and four reports of the rafters causing damage to buildings.

Fan owners should stop using them immediately and check for blades that are not secure or have a gap between them and the fan base, the CPSC said.

King of Fans, which makes the top fans, has published a video on its website with instructions on how to review the fan. The company said it would replace any defective roof fans for free.
