Spencer Dinwiddie finished the season

A hard blow to Brooklyn: Spencer Dinwiddie, who was injured in the Nets loss 106: 104 Tonight (Sunday through Monday) in Charlotte, Suffers from a partial tear in the cruciate ligament and will not be fit until the start of next season. This is reported tonight by Ames Chernieri from The Athletic.

The 27-year-old guard has so far averaged 6.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3 assists in Brooklyn’s three games this season. And yet, this is the team’s top five player alongside superstar duo Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. He was injured during the third quarter, after a partner for 15 minutes.

“We walk around with a goal on our backs. Everyone wants to beat us, and that’s actually a good thing for all of us,” Durant said after the Hunts’ first season loss. “In the end, it will bring out the best.”

Durant, by the way, missed 7.4 seconds to end a shot that could have tied and forced overtime. “It felt good when the ball got out of my hands,” he admitted at the end. “Maybe I should have thrown a three instead of a two-point shot, but I’m sure I’ll get caught next time.”

Brooklyn’s next game will be on Tuesday-Wednesday night against Memphis. After her season opener, and despite the loss, she is one of the favorites to finish as the Eastern Champion.
