Education Minister Yoav Galant and Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Health, Prof. Itamar Grotto, proved today that they continue their internal debates in public. After the Knesset Education Committee decided that the schools will operate properly, despite strong opposition from health system leaders. Galant posted a tweet on his Twitter account that Grotto was not happy with.
“In recent days, accusing voices have been heard again from Ministry of Health officials against Israeli students. Time and time again, the data have shown that schools are not morbid promoters but disease curbs and that studies as a matter of course are extremely important in stabilizing the economy and strengthening society and the state.” The data on which you are based. Prof. Itamar Grotto is an official in the Ministry of Health. ”
I would love to see the data you are based on.

Galant added that “the Ministry of Education under my leadership will continue to place Israeli students and teachers at the top of the list. I expect the Ministry of Health to act on the basis of data and out of responsibility and statehood.”
The decision was made after the committee’s chairman, MK Ram Shefa, warned that “the children sitting at home pay too heavy a price”, adding that “last weekend the government decided on a third closure and one of its implications is a certain closure of the education system. Education has shown in recent months a very clear line that if we reach a third closure the education system should remain open.I am glad that the Ministry of Education and the government have understood that at least the kindergartens will be left, but for me it is really not enough at least”.
Shefa added that “the bottom line of this morning’s meeting is clear – we are doing everything we can to get an educational response to God to God.” “MK Shefa said that he received intimidation calls from certain bodies not to cause the education system to open. According to him, the children who are at home in front of the zoom for an entire day pay too heavy a price and there is no reason for that.”
