MS Dhoni voted as winner of the ICC Cricket Spirit of the Decade Award

MS Dhoni has won the ICC Cricket Spirit of the Decade Award after a fan vote, for his decision to bring John Bell back after a controversial run in the 2011 Nottingham Test between England and India.

The event won the ICC Cricket Spirit Award in 2011.

From the last member of the afternoon session on the third day, Bell was run on 137 * after a mistaken assumption that the ball had reached the rope and gone for four, with Abhinav Mukund breaking the stumps while Bell walked away to talk to batting partner Eoin Morgan.

Over tea, the Indian team led by Captain Dhoni decided to withdraw the application, as baton Rahul Dravid explained.

“There was a team discussion at tea time, Dhoni and Fletcher called the meeting, and Dhoni led it. There was a unanimous feeling that we should put Bell back because the spirit of the game was important, and that getting him out that way would go against the spirit. ”

Bell learned shortly before he started again that he could continue with his engines, adding 22 more runs before being caught at a slope.

After the game, Bell said: “I didn’t know until the last minute that I would go back again but the way he was treated has been wonderful and in the spirit of the game. ”
