Hezbollah doubled its precision-guided missiles in a year, says director

The head of Hezbollah Lebanon said Sunday that his group now has twice as many precision-guided missiles as it did a year ago, saying Israel’s efforts to prevent them from failing have failed.

Hassan Nasrallah, in a weekend interview with Beirut-based Arab TV Al-Mayadeen, said his group has the potential to strike anywhere in Israeli and Palestinian territories.

Nasrallah said that when Israel threatened through a U.S. official to target a Hezbollah facility in the eastern Bekaa region, his agency warned it would carry out such an attack.

Israel has in recent months expressed concern that Hezbollah is trying to set up production facilities to make precision-guided missiles.

During the four-hour interview, Nasrallah said there are many issues related to his group that Israel has no experience with because these are being kept in a “very tight circle.”

Nasrallah also said that the last few weeks of US President Donald Trump’s administration are crucial and must be handled with care. He called Trump “angry” and “cunning.” “

Hezbollah is one of Iran ‘s best friends in the region and is Israel’ s sworn enemy, with whom it has had a series of conflicts, most recently in 2006.

Nasrallah once again promises that Iran and its allies will avenge the killing of the U.S. by the leader of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guard, Qassim Soleimani, in a drone attack a year ago in Iraq.

“That revenge comes no matter how long it takes,” he told Al-Mayadeen TV, seated with a picture of Soleimani on the left.

Nasrallah also vowed revenge for the Israeli killing of Hezbollah’s hero in Syria earlier this year.

Speaking to incoming President Joe Biden’s administration, Nasrallah said Iran would not negotiate with the U.S. on behalf of its allies or talk of conflict in the region. He said Tehran would only talk to Washington about Iran’s nuclear deal.
