More than 100,000 tests were solved in a day

At midnight, 1,832 new coronavirus infections were diagnosed in Israel, out of about 40,000 tests that were deciphered. This is according to data from the Ministry of Health published in the afternoon (Friday). The rate of positive tests is high and stands at 4.7%. Yesterday, according to the data, more than 100,000 tests in Israel were solved for the first time.

917 corona patients are hospitalized in hospitals across the country, 527 of them in critical condition. 133 patients are connected to respirators according to the Ministry of Health. Since the outbreak of the plague, 3,186 corona patients have died in Israel, five of them today.

The ultra-Orthodox cities have turned red in recent days: Beitar Illit, which was green until recently, has turned red with a traffic light score of 10. 18% of the tests conducted in the city last week were positive. Jerusalem is also red with a score of 7.7 and 10% of the tests conducted for the city’s residents are positive.

Bnei Brak with a traffic light score of 8.9 and 13% positive, Elad with a score of 8.7 and also 8.7% positive, Modi’in Illit with a score of 8.2 and 12% positive and the locality of Rechasim near Haifa with a score of 8.4 and 11% positive.

The red localities are: Beitar Illit, Kawkab Abu al-Hija, Givat Zeev, Kiryat Ya’arim, Revava, Merar, Nahaf, Kabul, Majdal Shams, Dalit al-Carmel, Selma, Bnei Brak, Elad, Kochav Ya’akov, Rechasim, Reina, Isfahan, Deir Hanna, restaurant, Ein Mahel, Modi’in Illit, Arara in the Negev, Peki’in, Hurfish, Fassuta, Ma’ale Iron, Ma’ale Adumim, Tamra, Deir al-Assad, Julis, Safed, Turan, Zemer, Efrat, Bir El Maksur, Sajur, Jerusalem, Abu Ghosh, Basma and Kfar Manda.

This morning, Health Minister Yuli Edelstein announced that almost 210,000 people have already been vaccinated against the virus in Israel from groups aged 60 and over, medical staff and nursing home residents. Just yesterday, we vaccinated more than 74,000 people.

On Sunday, a third closure will be imposed on Israel, in accordance with the government’s approval yesterday. The purpose of quarantine, as defined, is to curb the increase in morbidity and bring it down to a level of less than 1,000 new infections per day and a coefficient of infection lower than 1. The closure will begin at 5 p.m. and is expected to last at least two weeks. If the goal is not achieved it may be extended for another two weeks.

Many Israelis today visited the malls, markets and shops ahead of the impending closure. The IKEA branch in Rishon Lezion, for example, had long queues, and customers decided to abandon the shopping carts for their contents.
