(Reuters) – Moderna Inc said Wednesday that it expects the immunity caused by its COVID-19 vaccine to protect against the reported coronavirus changes in the UK.
The company said it plans to run tests to test the vaccine’s activity against any snoring.
Moderna’s comments came amid the British government’s plan to bring large areas of England under their strict COVID-19 restrictions as a variety of infectious viruses wipe out the country.
The company said it expects its vaccine, which was recently issued with a U.S. emergency use license, to protect against the UK variable based on data to date.
“We have already tested sera from animals and humans who have been vaccinated with the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine against a number of previous mutations of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that have emerged from the onset of the pandemic and we have found that our vaccine is just as effective, “Moderna said.
