What is Hades?
Hades is the latest game from Supergiant Games that follows the same formula established by Bastian. It features an open world and heavily reliant on chaotic combat that tests the player’s reflexes, design, and situational awareness.
Hades builds on the usual formula by turning the title into a cheat-like game, where a die sets the player back to square one with just a few wins.
Hades features a small but intriguing team of characters who are largely inspired by Greek mythology, which makes up its setting. Beautiful artwork, ancient mosaics, and mythical creatures are the norm in Hades.
Hades incorporates the other two key features that made previous Supergiant games stand out as solid, stunning and unique visual style and stunningly smooth audio work. Hades uses the same style of music that helped make Bastion feel, and the returning voice work by Logan Cunningham, the famous Supergiant performer when they need a distinctive voice.
Hades is an incredibly simple game, one that aims for a high level of elegance rather than just complexity. It doesn’t take long to learn the game, and the basic gameplay loop is engaging and at a good pace, with players able to take the time to find the most relevant skills at any given time.
