Israel stopped suspicion of attacking a shooting in the Old City of Jerusalem

Israeli forces on Monday afternoon stopped a suspected arson attack in Jerusalem’s Old Town.

Police said an armed man opened fire at officers near Bab Huta Temple Mount (Arabic Gate for Forgiveness Gate) and was fatally killed by security forces that flooded the area as a result.

One of the policemen fell and was slightly injured as he ran from his post towards the Temple Mound. Magen David Adom’s team that reached the scene was transferred to Shaare Zedek Hospital in the capital.

The officer appears to be suffering from injuries to his back and arms.

Police are investigating reports of other suspected terrorists seen in the area.

Jerusalem District police chief Doron Yedid arrived at the scene and made a situation assessment.

This is apparently the same location where two Border Police officers were killed in a terrorist attack about three years ago.

In the past few years, single Palestinian assailants, usually unrelated to organized militant groups, have been charged in a series of accusations, arson and car rammings against Israeli security forces or cargo Jewish settlement in the West Bank.
