The ‘head’ and the Halo are formed by an impact crack, which is created when a body from space flies in to collide in the crust of Mars.

Then comes the heart, which consists of a line of steep cliffs or slopes formed by various processes. Even though this dark matter is found all over Mars, it is not clear where it came from.

The south pole of Mars is aquatic. Mars Express found signs of three new ponds of salt water that are supposed to be buried under the ice here.

This view is found in the southern polar region of Mars. The pole itself is positioned just out of a frame on the right (right). The south pole is usually covered with a 1.5 km thick ice cap.
