Patrick Mahomes threw three passes as Kansas City Chiefs won their ninth consecutive game by beating the New Orleans Saints 32-29 Sunday.
Mahomes went 26 of 47 for 254 yards as the Chiefs improved their NFL record best to 13-1. Drew Brees returned from a four-game absence due to rib and lung injuries, finishing 15 of 34 passes for 234 yards, three TDs and an interception as the Saints (10-4) dropped their second straight after a nine-game winning streak. .

The Chiefs led 14-9 at half-time, but Brees threw a 24-yard pass to Latavius Murray on the first possession of the third quarter to give the Saints the same lead at 15- 14.

Mahomes responded on the ensuing possession with a five-yard pass to Mecole Hardman who gave Kansas City 21-15 before the end of the third.

With Le’Veon Bell’s 13-yard run and Mahomes’ successful two-point pass to Travis Kelce that advantage increased even further as Kansas City threatened to run away with it.

But Mahomes went down on Kansas City’s next possession, Kwon Alexander getting the ball back for the Saints at the Chiefs ’25-yard line. Three plays later, Brees threw a 14-yard pass to Alvin Kamara to make it just like a single-score game again at 29-22.

Kansas City weaver Harrison Butker kicked a 22-yard field goal to make New Orleans work just as small but harder, although Brees managed to throw a 17-yard pass to Lil’Jordan Humphrey to lead the Chiefs cut to 32-29.
However, with just two minutes left. Kansas City won two first reductions on their next run to run the clock out and come away with the win.
Earlier in the game, Brees’ first three passes were unbeaten and his fourth was caught by L’Jarius Sneed, leading to a Mahomes five-yard pass to Tyreek Hill and a 7-0 lead. by the end of the first quarter.

On the first play of the second season, Mahomes found an open man in the endzone again, this time lifting Kelce out of a yard for a 14-0 lead.
Brees eventually moved off the rust and teamed up with Emmanuel Sanders for a 51-yard win down to Kansas City’s three-yard line, establishing a Taysom Hill goal-line run that made the score 14-7.

Kansas City’s Demarcus Robinson went down on a pound return shortly before half-time, with the ball going through the endzone for safety, trimming the Chiefs ’lead to 14-9.
The Saints tried by hand to snatch that advantage from them in the second half, but it was not going to be.
Meanwhile, in more disturbing news for Kansas City, their rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire was injured in the fourth quarter, needing their help to the locker room, struggling to put any pressure on his left leg.
