Don’t forget Christmas trees decorated with bells, candy canes and socks; forget reindeer, socks and even Santa Claus. The latest Christmas decoration this year is the most expensive car in the world – Bugatti La Voiture Noire. The car costs about $ 13.4 million at standard exchange rates.
Bugatti’s home in France, commune Molsheim, has given the carmaker the gift of the most expensive Christmas decoration. Locked securely in a glass vessel, the La Voiture Noire was displayed in Molsheim city center right next to the beautifully decorated Christmas tree. “Every Molsheim resident has the unique opportunity to see this truly unique masterpiece,” said Molsheim Mayor Laurent Furst.

The luxury car will be on display until the end of March. The French brand decided to offer the one-time hypercar to its region of origin as several Christmas markets have been closed this year amid coronavirus pandemic. So La Voiture Noire will help maintain a certain level of festival, the brand said. “Nothing can replace Molsheim’s Christmas market. However, it is important for us to make the people of the area happy in these difficult times,” said Christophe Piochon, Site Manager and Managing Director of Production and Logistics at Bugatti .

The demonstration car of the one-time luxury model was unveiled to the world at last year’s Geneva Motor Show to celebrate Bugatti’s 110th anniversary. The sports car is a homage to the legendary Type 57 SC Atlantic by Jean Bugatti, which went missing at the start of World War II and has never been rediscovered.

The Bugatti La Voiture Noire boasts a hand-held carbon fiber body and gets the 8.0-liter W16 quad-turbo engine that pumps out 1,500 PS and 1,600 Nm of torque. A car can travel up to 380 km per hour, reaching 60 km in 2.4 seconds.
Bugatti was showcasing a white Bugatti Chiron at the Strasbourg Christmas market two years ago. Last year the Bugatti Centodieci was exhibited at Entzheim Airport.
