President Joe Biden has elected a Democrat from the U.S. House of Representatives as his nominee for the Secretary of the Interior, who is likely to inspire a Republican in the chamber.
Sources confirmed to Fox News Thursday that Biden intended to ask Rep. Deb Haaland, DN.M., to fill the position, would she become the first Native American to do so if approved by the Senate.
However, his departure from the House leaves Democrats with a very narrow majority over Republicans, after Biden knocked out Reps. Marcia Fudge, D-Ohio, and Cedric Richmond, D-La., For outstanding positions in administration.
A small 219-member majority makes it harder for the incoming president to get past his agenda items. A party needs 218 seats for a majority among the 435-member group.

The balance of power in the Senate could be a complex feature for Biden.
Georgia’s two running runs next month will determine if Republicans maintain their majority in the chamber. If both opponents are Democrats – The Hon. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff – unseat Republican rulers – Reps. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue – both parties would be bound for control. In that case, Vice-President-Elect Kamala Harris would be an uninterrupted vote.
Biden has admitted that accepting members from either the House or the Senate would hurt his chances of being able to deliver on his agenda.
He expressed these concerns when asked about Sens. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., And Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., Popular promoters who took over individual economic positions in their cabinet were neither elected.
“I have a very positive, forward-looking agenda and it’s going to take some really strong leaders in the House and Senate to deliver,” Biden said in an interview with NBC last month.
He has identified his administration as the most diverse in U.S. history after promising to make sure it represents the American public.
